Abstract
Background: Indonesia is one of the countries with triple double nutritional problems. The Indonesian population’s food consumption is still dominated by grains. Consumption of animal-derived foodstuffs, vegetables and fruit is still low. Diet is the first risk factor that contributes to death and disability in Indonesia. Factors related to nutrition contribute about 45 percent to the death of children under the age of 5 years. Malnutrition can cause various diseases that hinder the growth of children’s physical and mental development. Purpose: To determine the relationship between nutritional status and family social support with the development of children aged 2-6 years. Method: Using this type of observational analytic research a with cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were children aged 2-6 years. The sampling technique used purposive sampling method, the sample size was 60 children aged 2-6 years, consisting of 27 children with wasted and 33 children with normal nutritional status. Assessment of nutritional status with the Z-score indicator, which is based on weight for height, for family social support is obtained through a questionnaire filled out by parents or caregivers. Measurement of child development using Development Pre Screening Questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi-square test and logistic regression. Results: Statistically, there is a relationship between nutritional status and the development of children aged 2-6 years with a Sig. value 0,000. Family social support with child development has a Sig. value of 0,305 based on the results of the chi-square test, there is no significant relationship between family social support and the development of children aged 2-6 years. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the nutritional status of children and the child development aged 2-6 years, which shows a Sig. value p < 0,05 and there is no significant relationship between family social support and child development with a p > 0,05.
