Abstract

Medical records important role because documentation and information about patient's medical history so must be protected from damage, loss and other dangers because continuity of health data is protected. Physical medical records can be damaged, paper torn and moldy, needs treatment so condition is maintained within a certain period of time. The purpose was to determine the implementation of physical security of medical records in the filing room in 2020 RSU X Kediri. The research method was cross-sectional with a retrospective approach. The population was 15,935 with a sample of 100 medical records. Data was Collected by observing and interviewing officers in the filing room. Result founded, policies and SOP related to physical security of medical records don’t exist. Physical security includes intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The intrinsic factor causing damage is the thin cover. Extrinsic factors consist of physical, biological and chemical. Physical factors causing damage are water seepage and full filing racks, biological factors are insects and rats, and chemicals are dust sticking. In conclusion, RSU X Kediri is provided with a medical record installation policy and SOP. Physical security of medical records from intrinsic factors that aren’t suitable for thin paper, extrinsic factors that don’t fit full shelves, seepage of water, dust and insects. The cause of damage to medical records due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors and inadequate infrastructure. Suggestions for making rules related to physical security medical records, repairing facilities and infrastructure on filing, gradually entering damaged into the computer.
